Pay Options While out on a Leave of Absence

Maternity Leave Pay

Employees must be eligible for FMLA in order to receive Maternity Leave Pay. Maternity Leave Pay will run concurrently with FMLA. Maternity Leave Pay will begin on day 1 of delivery and continue on for the next 6 weeks. In order to pay out Maternity Leave Pay, the employee has to be on an approved Leave of Absence and provide proof of birth. Proof of birth documentation can be in the form of a birth certificate, mother’s copy of the birth certificate that the hospital provides, or a letter from the hospital on letterhead that contains the employee’s name, baby’s name, and baby’s date of birth.

Parental Leave Pay

Employees must be eligible for FMLA in order to receive Parental Leave Pay. Parental Leave Pay will run concurrently with FMLA. Parental Leave Pay is normally paid out the next 4 weeks after Maternity Leave Pay has been exhausted, unless the employee delivered via a C-Section. If the employee delivered via a C-Section and has elected one of Genesco’s Short Term Disability policies, the employee will be eligible for 2 weeks of Short Term Disability between Maternity and Parental Leave Pay. In order to pay out Parental Leave Pay, the employee has to be on an approved Leave of Absence and provide proof of birth. Proof of birth documentation can be in the form of a birth certificate, mother’s copy of the birth certificate that the hospital provides, or a letter from the hospital on letterhead that contains the employee’s name, baby’s name, and baby’s date of birth.

PTO/Sick/Vacation Time

Employees will be required to exhaust all currently available PTO, sick, or vacation time while out on an approved leave of absence, if no other paid leave of absence options are available through the company or state. This time will be exhausted before going out on an unpaid leave of absence.

Short Term Disability Plans

Genesco currently offers 2 Short Term Disabilities policies that can be elected during the employee’s initial eligibility period, open enrollment, or during any life event. In order to be eligible to use this benefit, employees will have to meet a 90-day elimination period before any claims can be filed under either plan. There is a 7-day waiting period associated with both Short-Term Disability options unless an employee has been hospitalized or has surgery. Further information on these plans can be found by visiting https://2025genesco.burbledev.com/benefit/short-term-disability/
